WAX Wallets and accounts
What is a WAX Blockchain Account?
A WAX account consists of up to 12 alphanumeric strings (such as "ilikebananas") and two strings of 50 numbers and letters (called "public keys", such as PUB_K1_7EGpJyk4HBXnCyRfTo63cs5R8EYYiBPpk4PTiNbM25BdvmoqKu). For ease of understanding, you can think of this 12-character string as an email address, because an email address is ultimately just a string of numbers and letters. Have you ever wondered why only you have access to your email account? It's simple: your account is password-protected and can only be used by those who know your password. Likewise, accounts on the WAX blockchain are protected by a password called a "private key." Like the public key, the private key is also a long string of characters, the only difference is that you can't select it, only people who know the private key can use your account! Just like you don't give your email password to anyone, you must protect your private key because if someone gets hold of it, they can steal all the information in your account!
My Cloud Wallet
My Cloud Wallet is the official WAX Blockchain wallet, built and maintained by the WAX team. It’s web-based, requires no downloads, and is beginner-friendly. As a custodial wallet, it’s ideal for newcomers, offering seamless integration with WAX-based apps, from games to DEXs.
Features include:
Token and NFT bridging to Ethereum, BSC, and Polygon.
A clean interface to manage assets and display NFTs.
Note: My Cloud Wallet only supports accounts created within it.
Anchor Wallet
Anchor Wallet is a non-custodial wallet available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS, capable of supporting both the WAX blockchain and other blockchains such as EOS. As a non-custodial wallet, you are responsible for managing the public and private keys. Anchor wallet is slightly more complicated to use than cloud wallet, but it gives you more control. The Anchor wallet can be used to connect to most applications on the WAX blockchain and can be used to manage existing accounts, as long as you have the private key to the account!
Wombat Wallet
Wombat Wallet is a custodial wallet, similar to a cloud wallet, but in addition to supporting the WAX blockchain, it also supports many other blockchains. Wombat Wallet is a mobile app (or Chrome browser extension) with a very crude interface and is far less convenient than a cloud wallet. Not all applications that support cloud wallets support Wombat wallet, and currently the wallet supports very few applications. The biggest advantage of Wombat wallet is that creating an account is completely free. Note: Wombat wallet cannot be used to manage existing accounts, only accounts created through it!
